Get to know Pharmacist Dr. Brandi Allison Gore, who serves the population of Reno, Nevada.

Dr. Brandi Allison Gore is a pharmacist with VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System. A hospital with the US Department of Veterans Affairs, where their mission is “to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for her widow, and her orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s veterans.

Dr. Gore completed her undergraduate degree from Simpson University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Biological Sciences. Furthering her education, she completed her Master’s degree in Health Care Administration/Management and her Doctorate of Pharmaceutical Medicine from Pacific University.

To stay up to date in her field, Dr. Gore remains a professional member of the Oregon Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association, and the Annamacharya College of Pharmacy.

She attributes her professional success to coming from a family of nurses and knew she wanted to go into health care and pharmacy seemed like the right fit for her.

Pharmaceutical medicine is the medical scientific discipline concerned with the discovery, development, evaluation, registration, monitoring and medical aspects of marketing of medicines for the benefit of patients and the health of the community. At core of the discipline is the clinical testing of medicines, translation of pharmaceutical drug research into new medicines, safety and well-being of research participants in clinical trials, and understanding the safety profile of medicines and their benefit-risk balance. In addition to expertise in the science of drug development pharmaceutical physicians need a thorough understanding of pharmacoeconomics, medical aspects of the marketing of medicines, business administration and the social impact of healthcare on patients and public health.
