Sitting that causes ankle pains are quite rare. Ankle pains generally develop when you are standing, moving or tasking because that is when the body weight is much higher compared to sitting. Perhaps if you are always sitting with one leg over the other at the ankles, there may be some pain driven from that pressure and the cure here would be to change your sitting position. How long does it take to walk after foot surgery?
Depending on the level and type of surgery, many foot surgeries are ambulatory which means that you will be walking away from the procedure. You will likely have walking aids ranging from crutches and canes and special walking boots and shoes. The need for bed rest is unlikely unless there are complications and you couldn't walk well preop. Discuss this with your surgeon or his/her staff so you understand the postop orders.
