With over three decades of experience as a board certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Abdelsayed has worked for over a decade as a hepatologist with specific clinical focus on treating liver disease, including hepatitis B and C, alcohol-induced liver disease, and nutritional liver disease. Currently, he serves as the Director of Ambulatory Hepatology and Chief Quality Officer at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York City, New York. A native of Egypt, Dr. Abdelsayed first came to the United States when he was 13. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Saint John’s University in 1978. He then went on to earn his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla in 1983.

Furthering his training, he performed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital in 1986, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Montefiore Medical Center Wakefield Campus in 1989.

Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
