The son of an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. de Moura took an early interest in the field and enthusiastically followed in his father’s footsteps. Upon graduating with his medical degree from Chicago Medical School, he went on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Temple University Medical Center. He then subsequently completed his fellowship in orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine surgery at the NYU Langone Medical Center.
In 1996, he returned to Long Island with the copious experience he gained handling extremely complicated cases at some of the greatest orthopaedic facilities in the world. He has, in fact, helped thousands of patients overcome their spine conditions and return to normal levels of function.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor is a member of the North American Spine Society, the New York Medical Society, and the Nassau County Medical Society.

Orthopaedic surgery or orthopaedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
