Do acne face washes really help in preventing acne?
Acne face washes (with either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid) can help with acne control, but sometimes need additional treatment to clear the skin. By themselves, they might not be sufficient for you. READ MORE
13 yr old with hives, should we go to the doctor?
If no other symptoms, I would continue exactly what you are doing. The hives should eventually settle down. Chronic hives (> 6 weeks) can happen and if this does, you might consider seeing an Allergist. READ MORE
I accidentally spilled bleach on my skin and it left a burn. What should I do?
Assuming this is a recent spill and "burn", I would apply plain white petrolatum ointment until the skin is fully healed without an 'rawness', then consider applying an OTC silicone scar gel. READ MORE
How do I know what is the right SPF for me?
You should always apply a sunscreen or sunblock that's at least an SPF 30 or higher. If you are swimming or perspiring a lot while outside, then make sure the type of product is rated as "very water resistant". You should also plan on re-applying it about every 90-120 minutes or more often if needed depending on the activity you are doing. READ MORE

Is nail discoloration a sign of a health problem?
Fingenails or toenails or both? Nail thickening and discoloration can be due to several issues -- most of which are harmless and more an "appearance" issue. However, if the appearance bother you, you should get it evaluated. READ MORE

Lowering your intake of foods with a high glycemic index number can help. but sounds like you should get evaluated by a dermatologist since you are still having trouble into your 30s. You might have rosacea and not acne. READ MORE
Can tanning cause any skin concerns?
Tanning is a sign of sun damage to the skin. It's the skin response to excess UV exposure and the color cells (melanocytes) increase melanin production (causing the brown color) in an effort to shield the skin making ("baby skin cells") from the UV.
