A prominent infectious disease specialist, Dr. Reynoso is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and Deputy Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, joining the faculty in 2017.

 

For more than a century, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) has served the needs of Texas and Texans from its large Galveston campus, long anchored by the John Sealy Hospital. They offer innovative care provided with compassion and that is nationally recognized. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Reynoso earned his medical degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and his fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

 

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

 

Clinically active, he supervises doctors in training at Jennie Sealy Hospital, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital, infectious diseases and HIV clinic, and the St. Vincent's Student clinic. He is actively involved in resident and fellow education, delivering lectures, and has taught medical students in the Practice of Medicine course.

 

An avid researcher, Dr. Reynoso has a particular interest in improving the quality of antimicrobial use at UTMB through educational activities, prospective audit and feedback, and development of institutional guidelines for common infectious syndromes.
