901 Dover Dr Suite 122 Newport Beach CA, 92660About
Peter Muran, M.D. at Longevity Healthcare Center has over 30 years of experience providing care to patients in a variety of settings. Dr. Muran looks at his patient’s entire health as a whole when developing a treatment plan. His mission is to focus on listening and understanding his patient’s mind, body, and spirit. Taking a patient-centered approach to healing, Peter Muran, M.D.’s philosophy is to blend internal medicine and naturopathic medicine. Dr. Muran takes a functional medicine approach that looks for the root cause, which can be the source of many conditions. In identifying this root cause there is an emphasis on the external and internal environment, metabolic pathways, genetics, hormonal sufficiency, neurological and psychological wellbeing, immune health and modulation, detoxification efficacy of the liver and kidney, and gastrointestinal health. It also includes the balancing of the neurotransmitters and any influences of the DNA response.
Dr. Muran's training and experience integrate the cause and effect of each patient's condition to determine the specific treatment to potentiate the recovery of their health. He specializes in treating conditions through a 'different lens' than today's standard medical community. He treats conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, Auto-Immune Disease, and Hormonal Imbalance. Dr. Muran believes the best first step is to collect a complete ancestry history (to evaluate DNA), full medical history, and consider environmental and social histories, to analyze, diagnose and treat the patient as a whole.
As substance abuse and alcoholism have increased, Dr. Muran has been focusing on finding a new, different, and more effective way to treat addiction; the Muran Method. He believes the best first step to breaking the grip of addiction is to effectively neutralize and eliminate the substance’s inherent toxicity and then to reduce the inflammation in the body caused by their metabolites. He next evaluates each patient’s genetic, medical, social, psychological histories to identify potential root causes of addiction. By treating the root cause of addiction, Dr. Muran can relieve the symptoms that often lead to relapse.

Does my child need therapy for anger?
There are multiple reasons for anger, a prominent reason is the consumption of foods that cause inflammation and anxiety. Areas of research
Project Name: Validating Tools for Prevention of Breast Disease
Dec 2011–Jul 2012
Role: Primary Investigator
Institution Name: Supervised by Dr. Eleanor Rogan, University Omaha, NB Overview/Objective: Discovery of how estrogen could metabolize an estrogen quinone, a highly reactive estrogen metabolite, that can strongly bond to DNA’s purines forming an estrogen-DNA adduct and possible DNA damage; wherein the estrogen-DNA adduct and the bio-measurable oxidative stress is a risk potential for the initiation of breast cancer cells. Utilization of functional medicine approach to reduce the amount of estrogen-DNA adduct formation and oxidative stress.
Result: The study measured the aforementioned risk and instituted a protocol and re-measured the risk in 90 days, resulting in a marked reduction (p<0.02) in the estrogen-DNA adduct formation and oxidative stress and overall marked patient symptomatic improvement.
