Her extensive experience includes serving as the medical director of Newport Academy Outpatient (October 2021 – April 2022), an attending physician at UHS (January 2018 – October 2021), an attending physician and director of child and adolescent services at Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital (October 2017 – December 2017), and as an attending physician (Locums) at UHS (October 2016 – September 2017).

Dr. Porbandarwalla began her academic pursuit at The University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Microbiology in 2003. Subsequently, she pursued an MD/PhD program in the Department of Biochemistry at UT Health San Antonio from 2005 to 2007. 

Continuing her medical education at UT Health San Antonio, Dr. Porbandarwalla obtained her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 2009. She then completed the Psychiatry Residency Program from 2009 to 2012 and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program from 2012 to 2014, both at UT Health San Antonio.

Board certified in general psychiatry and in child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Porbandarwalla is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
