  • Is it ok to sleep on right side during third trimester?

Common medical opinion has been to advise women after the second trimester to sleep on the left side rather than on their backs. This is because the increasingly heavy uterus can compress the large vein (inferior vena cava) that returns blood to heart causing insufficient blood to reach the heart. This leads to less blood being pumped from the heart, thus to the uterus and that in turn leads to insufficient oxygen getting to the fetus. It is now generally agreed that if the woman turns completely to the right that this does not compromise the blood flow. My own studies on fetal oxygenation showed that both positions are fine. • Can I have children without a bladder?

  • What is a unicornuate uterus?

The uterus is an organ formed from a left and right parts that fuse into one unit. Occasionally this union fails and the resulting uterus is made up of two separate parts (horns) or only one part. This means that the space for the fetus to grow is restricted and of course there is only one main artery to the uterus rather than a lady and right blood supply. Pregnancy losses are higher in this scenario but many women with this condition can have successful pregnancies. You need to seek advice and care from a specialist on-gun. READ MORE

  • How can I differentiate between implantation bleeding and periods?

Implantation bleeding often occurs about a week to 10 days after conception and about a week before your period would be expected. Assuming you have a cycle of 28-30 days, you would expect implantation bleeding on about days 21-23, day 1 being the first day of bleeding of your most recent period. It is usually painless, though some women experience a little cramping and it usually onlasts a day or two and is rarely heavy. You'll soon know, though, because your next expected period in about a week won't come, and your pregnancy test will be positive very soon. Good luck! READ MORE
