Dr. David J. Soomekh is a Board Certified Podiatric foot and ankle specialist and surgeon. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He specializes in clinical and surgical foot and ankle care for both simple and complex foot and ankle problems. He provides excellent quality care through his careful diagnosis and mindful treatment options. He treats patients of all ages from all parts of California, other states as well as international patients. He is the treating foot and ankle specialist for the Los Angeles Ballet.
He was raised in the suburbs of Chicago where he completed his medical training at the W.M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed his 3 years of residency surgical training at Stanford University, the VA in Palo Alto California, and California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco; focusing on many of the most complex foot and ankle cases. During his training he participated in important research in osteoarthritis of the foot and ankle and other continuing research. He then moved to Los Angeles to begin practice in 2004.
He has expertise in advanced technologies such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments, use of bone marrow aspirate (BMA), and use of Total Ankle Replacements. Dr. Soomekh also has a special interest in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery, management of sports injuries, diabetic wound management, and arthroscopy of the foot and ankle. Dr. Soomekh has dedicated much time to the advancement of arthritis prevention and is an expert in the treatment of degenerative arthritis.
Dr. Soomekh is on hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Saint John's Health Center, and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center & Orthopedic Hospital. He is a member of the editorial board of the international medical journal, "Foot And Ankle International." He is published in many medical journals and comprehensive textbooks.
Dr. Soomekh, his wife and son live in Santa Monica. In his spare time he enjoys snow and water skiing, boating, traveling and is, as well, a nationally recognized opera singer.
