What do you attribute your success to?

• I had the fortunate experience of having numerous mentors across the country during my years of research at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.  It was through these contacts that I developed a diverse knowledge of different philosophies throughout the United States.  I have continued to stay in touch with these academicians in order to stay abreast of the most current research in the area of orofacial pain, headaches, neuropathic pain, TMJD and sleep disorders.  My biopsychosocial and evidence-based approach to the conservative management of this special group of patients is due to the incorporation of these various philosophies.

Areas of research

• In his most recent research, he was a co‑investigator in a five year NIH grant to study the effects of early behavioral intervention of acute TMD patients conducted through the University of Texas at Arlington, Department of Psychology.  Post Surgical Management of Complications Secondary to Proplast Teflon Rejection (case study in progress).  Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma Mimicking TMJ Pain, (case study in progress).  R.R. Riggs, J.D. Rugh.  Muscle Spasm:  Fact or Fiction.  In preparation to be submitted to profession journal.  Since the inception of his practice, he has evaluated and treated over 20,000 patients.    Dr. Riggs CV can be obtained on request, and is available for presentations to study clubs and to answer any questions you have about patient management.  As with any specialty, my goal is to help you in the comprehensive management of your patients.
