A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA), he is board-certified in general psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Licensed to practice medicine in Washington and California, the doctor is also board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
