11. Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks (1913-2005) is the Mother of the Freedom Movement. She refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white person and thus became one of the most well-known faces of the Civil Rights Movement. Parks wrote a compelling autobiography, but her life was shut down due to Alzheimer’s in 2005.
