Celiac's Disease: What's a Chocolate Lover to Do?
What chocolates should a celiac patient avoid
With such a long list of gluten-free chocolates, one might be comfortable enough to buy whatever chocolates they fancy. However, there are still brands that aren’t totally safe for celiac patients. Here is the list of brands to avoid:
Dagoba Chocolate
An extended brand from Hershey’s, the Dagoba Chocolate is not a suggested for celiac patients. While they do provide ingredient labels, seeing a gluten-free Dagoba chocolate mustn’t be eaten still. Because they produce other gluten-filled items, contamination is very likely.
Ghirardelli Chocolate
The company’s chocolates do not have a clear indicator of whether they’re gluten-filled or not. Buyers should not take a risk in purchasing them.
Toblerone Chocolates
Although the company claims that they don’t manufacture any products with gluten, it is never stated on the labels of their chocolates. It’s best that buyers do not take a risk in purchasing this as well.
The rule is that one should never buy a product if the labels contain gluten. If it does not, don’t immediately assume their safety and research beforehand. It’s always safer to stick to brands that are gluten-free certified or those that have precautionary labels.
