hello,
These problems and symptoms often arise when there is weakness in the pelvic and/or hip girdle, especially with hip rotational stability. A physical therapist can evaluate this and help you to improve stabilization in the back, hip, and knee areas with a strengthening program specific to your needs and areas of weakness or imbalance. For the patella, kinesiotaping or sports taping can help to improve patellar placement and movement to reduce lateral tilt, and lateral excursion of the patella and reduce sub-patellar irritation, but again, this should be treated in conjunction with stabilization exercises to improve stability of the leg as a whole. Hope this is helpful, best of luck to you!
