Dr. Isam Balat has a great reputation for delivering exceptional care to his patients and treating every case carefully. He enjoys finding solutions to his patient’s medical problems.  Dr. Balat has long been recognized as one of the top OB/Gyns in the greater Houston area.  

Dr. Isam Balat graduated from UTMB medical school education in Galveston in 1973. He went on to do his residency of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Houston TX at Memorial Hermann Hospital. In 1976 he started a private practice, taking care of fertility for Houston families. He delivered several thousand babies and took care of women of all ages. Along with extensive evaluations to identify infertility causes, Dr. Balat offers a wide range of medications and several surgical options that can correct infertility problems allowing patients to be evaluated and treated in one place under close supervision. His greatest satisfaction is meeting with couples with infertility issues and helping them achieve their dream of having a baby.

He paid a special interest in the management of Endometriosis, a disease often missed by doctors. He is a lifetime member of the Endometriosis Association and he is considered an “Endometriosis Specialist” treating the Houston area with minimally invasive surgeries for the management of Endometriosis.

In 1980, Dr. Balat spent time learning laparoscopic surgery. He wrote an article about the first 50 cases of laparoscopic Hysterectomies in Houston, TX. 

In 1990, he started his group practice, Plaza OBGYN Associates which included several physicians. He believes that most benign gynecological conditions could be treated with minimally invasive surgery thus avoiding hospitalization. To that effect, he developed Binz Surgery Center where he performs outpatient hysterectomies and other gynecological procedures.

To continue serving the women of Houston he developed a weight loss center, Plaza Weight loss Center, with the thought of obesity being a health risk, especially during the menopause years. This company was also put in place to target other health-related issues not related to obesity but nutrition deficiencies. Plaza Aesthetics was developed shortly after to assist women in improving their shape after giving birth by helping tone, and strengthen muscles and address the changes that happen after giving birth.

Dr. Isam Balat believes that menopause could have a major impact on women’s life. He addresses each patient’s issues whether it is hot flashes, weight gain, or lack of sleep. He stands by Bioidentical Hormone Therapy like the Hormone Pellets and creams. He offers the Mona Lisa which treats Vaginal dryness.
