Dr. Vincent Leonti, MD
Family Practitioner
Despite being an active individual who had successfully completed five marathons, Dr. Leonti was taken aback when he encountered chest pain during a routine run. Seeking medical advice, he was informed by a cardiologist that he had an 80 percent blockage in one coronary artery and a 70 percent blockage in another.
As a medical professional, Dr. Leonti believed he was leading a healthy lifestyle. However, he soon realized that he had been misinformed and had unknowingly developed unhealthy habits. This realization prompted him to make significant lifestyle changes in order to improve his overall well-being. It was during this period that his daughter, Jenna, embarked on her own journey in functional medicine and integrative health.
Initially, Dr. Leonti was unfamiliar with the concept of functional medicine and was admittedly skeptical about its effectiveness. It seemed to contradict everything he had learned and practiced as a traditional medical doctor. Despite his reservations, he decided to attend a functional medicine conference, which quickly opened his eyes to the stark contrast between traditional and functional medicine. While traditional medicine excelled at addressing acute illnesses and crisis situations, such as fractures or heart attacks, it fell short when it came to chronic illnesses.
Realizing the potential of functional medicine in preventing and reversing chronic illnesses, Dr. Leonti recognized the need to integrate this approach into conventional medicine. Rather than simply treating symptoms with medication after they arise, functional medicine focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of health issues, thereby preventing problems from occurring in the first place. Motivated by this revelation, Dr. Leonti enrolled in the Institute for Functional Medicine and Functional Medicine University, where he is currently working towards certification.
Driven by their personal experiences and a shared belief in the power of both functional and conventional medicine, Dr. Leonti and his daughter decided to establish Princeton Integrative Health.
