Finding balance in our lives! It is a great goal, in theory. Isn't it?
But do we just like to talk about it, or do we really want to figure out what it means for us? Do we really want to work on it? Everybody has his own say, naturally, because our own brain, physical functions, life experiences, values, perceptions, and motivations are unique. There are, however, common ground steps that can be considered in order to even consider starting on this journey. First, be honest with yourself. Am I happy or content with myself, most of the time? Am I the best version of myself, most of the time? Am I really living through my strengths and fears? Assessing your resources and limitations, strengths and weaknesses, honestly, takes courage, but it also paves a healthy path toward your goals. Though these steps can be challenging and can stir strong emotions, remember, there is always help available. Look around. You can count on the good people around you. Or you can ask for professional help, which is a more neutral and non-judgmental space where you can understand yourself better. As a licensed psychologist, I always tell my clients that just by having made an appointment they are already at 50% towards their therapy work!
