Saltwater rinses will draw the infection out towards the surface but will not resolve the abscess. The root cause of the infection must be treated to heal the gums

Salt water draws the abscess to the surface to promote drainage of the infection.

It is normal for a blood clot to form in the extraction site after a tooth extraction. It is part of the normal healing process.
