"I will have a filling without an injection tomorrow. Is it painful? How can I prepare?"

Is it painful?

Teeth for one person are very sensitive, for another, there is very little sensitivity.

Pain is perceived differently by different people. A given pain is perceived as a 7 by one person, and as a 2 by another person. It is not possible for me to know sensitive your teeth are; or how you will perceive it.

How can I prepare?

The more relaxed, and less anxious you are, the better it will be.

Will you have hypnosis? In the proper hands, this works very well.

Be prepared to accept an injection during the procedure if it is more uncomfortable than you expected. You do not want the dentist to stop and leave the procedure unfinished.

Do you have progressive relaxation skills? If so, use them.

Controlled, deep, relaxed, breathing skills? If so, use them.

Rest breaks are helpful.

Have hand signs practiced with the dentist before treatment starts. You will not be able to talk during the procedure.

Raise hand -- stop until I lower my hand.

Waving hand right and left – I need an injection. This is too uncomfortable.

Hold up index finger – How much longer?

Perhaps you can think of others?

Thank you for your excellent question.

Sounds like you would like NO dental decay so this is not a concern again?

If so, study the book: “GROWING A HEALTHY CHILD, SECRETS FROM A WISE OLD DOC”. It is the very best source of information on how to never have another cavity. The information is easy to use. Thousands have used the information and – no new cavities.
