Harvey Allen Shub, MD, FACS, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He commenced his academic journey at NYU in 1960 and later completed his undergraduate studies at UM, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Physics. Following this, he returned to NYU to pursue his interest in microbiology and genetics, completing a year of graduate school. In 1965, he was accepted into the prestigious University of Rome School of Medicine and Surgery in Italy, from which he graduated in 1971 with a Doctor of Medicine degree. Subsequently, he undertook an internship and residency in surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

In 1976, Dr. Shub embarked on a fellowship in Colon and Rectal surgery at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, located at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ. It was during this time that he made the decision to relocate to Orlando, where he established his own practice on Orange Avenue. For over three decades, he dedicated himself to the field of Colon and Rectal Surgery, providing exceptional care to his patients. Dr. Shub's contributions were recognized through his appointment as chairman of General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery, as well as President of the medical staff at Florida Hospital. His expertise and commitment led to his fellowship with the American College of Surgeons, and he received the esteemed Physicians Recognition Award on ten occasions since 1976.

After forty years of practicing Colon and Rectal Surgery, Dr. Shub decided to retire in 2007. However, his retirement was short-lived as he quickly realized that he still had much to offer to the medical field. Initially, he returned by teaching and conducting Medicare Physicals, but he soon felt the desire to make a more significant impact with his vast knowledge and experience. This led him to find his calling at Sunshine State Medical Inc., where he currently serves. Dr. Shub firmly believes that the calling of a physician never truly fades, and he now serves patients as an internist.

During his tenure as a Colon and Rectal surgeon, Dr. Shub achieved several notable milestones. He performed the first-ever laser excision of rectal cancer in the United States, a groundbreaking procedure that garnered recognition within the medical community. He presented a paper on this pioneering experience at the New York Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Additionally, he published a seminal paper on the treatment of anal fissures, which is widely regarded as a definitive source in the field.

Since 2015, Dr. Shub has been practicing General Medicine, EMC, and conducting Medical Immigration Exams at Sunshine State Medical Inc. He and his wife, Susan, have made their home in Lake Forrest, Sanford. They are proud parents to two children, Carolyn and Todd, and are also blessed with a beautiful grandchild named Hannah.
