Dr. Vivian Asamoah is in Board certified Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. She completed her fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Post fellowship, she earned her certification in Functional Medicine through The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM.)

She is an international speaker, educator and patient advocate. She has run continuing education for healthcare professionals in the conventional gastroenterology field as well as the non-allopathic fields of naturopathic medicine, chiropractic care and dietetics.

She is an educator at the Institute of Functional Medicine and presenter of the GI APM module. She lectures   on gastrointestinal disorders including microbiome imbalance, food intolerance/sensitivities,  auto immune mimicry and intestinal permeability, gut-brain axis disorders ranging from functional dyspepsia to the different subtypes of irritable bowel syndrome.

Among her publications include topics on celiac disease, micronutrient deficiencies, and metabolic disorders related to obesity.  She currently runs her private practice in Houston, Texas where she merges cutting- edge, evidence-based methodologies in both conventional and integrative medicine to achieve superior outcomes for her patients.

Her practice is currently involved in several clinical trials; assessing efficacy of peptides on cirrhosis, new therapies for management GERD and novel biomarkers for early detection of colon cancer.  Dr. V as she is fondly called by her patients, is well-known for her private facebook community and Your tube channel “Natural Gut Relief “where shares educational information on the impact of diet and lifestyle on the gut and hosts a weekly live “Back to Basics” with prominent guest speakers.
