If that is the case in your State or insurance plan, expect to pay out of pocket. Most Chiropractors have taken extremity classes while at the University. There are also Doctors of Chiropractic that have specialized in sports adjusting which includes extremity adjusting. For instance, most of my career has been sports and pediatric adjusting. You can stretch your back to an extent that you will probably hear or feel the bones moving. However, you are usually moving the bone above or below the one that is misaligned and stuck. This causes the muscles and ligaments to be damaged and the discomfort will last much longer. It will continually come back. If I could adjust my back by myself I would have been doing that the past 30 years. Instead I go see a chiropractor about every 7 to 10 days to keep a healthy spine, nervous system, and immune system; they are intimately intwined. You can not get the proper line of correction to correctly align your spine by twisting yourself. Just cant happen. Dr. Shanti
