Talk to the radiology team or your doctor who ordered the CT Scan to see if mild sedation; we call it conscious sedation is an option. In summary, is it possible? The answer is yes. In deep sedation for a colonoscopy, the patient is completely out, but he still can breathe on his own, and no breathing tube is needed; on the other hand, the general anesthesia will require a breathing tube and mechanical ventilation. In summary, you don't need general anesthesia for colonoscopy, but you definitely need deep sedation because it's an uncomfortable procedure, and you should be completely out.
