One precaution however, if you all of a sudden have a drastic increase in floaters such as 100 or so, then you should go see an eye doctor as soon as possible. This could mean a possible retinal tear or detachment. However, most floaters are very benign and are very common. Sometimes, after cataract surgery, I will occasionally laser floaters if they become very bothersome to a patient.
