Hello, What you are describing is called oral allergy syndrome or OAS. It is the most common form of food allergy in adults. It is caused by contact of the mouth and throat with raw fruits and vegetables and sometimes nuts. Cooking the exact same fruits and vegetables will not cause symptoms because heat changes the protein structure. It is usually a reflection of allergy to pollen like birch, ragweed or mugwort and now you are reacting to a similar protein found in the raw form of fruits and vegetables. It will be worth consulting an allergist to evaluate your underlying environmental allergy which is the root cause. Best, Dr. Grandon

Hello, have you always had allergies or is the nasal congestion only in the last few years? The reason I ask is there is a condition called non-allergic rhinitis which is commonly seen as we grow older and this condition does not respond well to nasal sprays. It would be good to visit either your primary care physician or allergist so they can examine your nose and look for alternative causes since you are miserable and not responding to standard sprays. Please feel free to reach out to me consulting@drdeepa-tlc.org. Kind regards, Dr. Deepa.

Hello, it is hard to know what type of rash your mother has without seeing it, as the treatment would depend on the kind of rash. Did she initially respond to the levocetirizine but now has the rash despite taking the levocetirizine? If the rash worsens despite the levocetirizine, it would be good for her to see her primary care physician or allergist to evaluate it. Certain conditions like urticaria are not dangerous but can be very uncomfortable for the individual, and trying other antihistamines in combination can help. Still, it would be in your mother's best interest to see a physician if the rash worsens. Please feel free to reach to me consulting@drdeepa-tlc.org. Kind regards, Dr. Deepa
