Dr. John L. Merritt graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Medicine in Charleston, earning his medical degree. From there, he completed his internal medicine residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He then went on to complete a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. A proud Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Merritt was elected Best Doctors in America in the Tampa Bay Metro region from 2009-2013. Additionally, he has authored over 500 life care plans. He has served as an expert witness for over 25 years, testifying in challenging cases involving both pediatric and adult brain and spinal cord injuries, as well as multi-trauma and catastrophic injuries.
