Sounds like you could have damaged a ligament in the knee. Often times dashboard injuries result in a tear of the PCL which affects knee stability. Like a building , if the foundation has a problem, the rest of the building is not in perfect alignment. You need to strengthen your leg as well as performing core stabilization exercises. Posture is extremely important. Finding a good physical therapist is a good way to start, if possible.
FYI I too have a similar result from a car accident where both knees hit the dashboard. Other things involved but, talking as a PT and one with similar problems. Hope this helps

I have pain from my back all the way to my thighs. What could this be?
Absolutely find a PT. Medication is a bandage and don’t help correct problem. This is a problem we treat on a regular basis
What is the physical therapy treatment recommended for plantar fasciitis and knee pain?
Absolutely. PT can help with both. You’ll need exercises and probably an assessment on how you are walking. Both are easily addressed together. Good luck.
