A chiropractor, especially one who works with muscles and trigger points, can stimulate the organs and intestines to move. By working on the muscles in the hips and back, and also in the legs and abdomen, you can help the bowels to start moving. By doing this, you can physically help to move the feces further down the intestines so that your daughter can more easily eliminate it.

Spinal manipulation works very well for sciatica. I'd also look into some type of muscle work to go along with the manipulation. Usually there is a muscular component to the injury, and if the docto doesn't take care of the muscular component, then the pain will stick around. Yoga and stretching and icing work very well to relieve the pain.

Yoga and stretching are great ways to loosen up your low back. It is very normal to have some discomfort while beginning and new exercise routine. That is why it is important to ease your way into exercise. If you are overweight, you'll be tempted to do a lot of high impact and high intensity exercises. They will irritate your joints, and cause injury. It is important to listen to your body, take breaks and go easy when you need to, which is most of the time. Pain is your body's self protective mechanism, listen to it. The old adage of no pain, no gain is extremely inaccurate, especially the older we get.
I hope that this helps you out.

This could be due to many reasons. For some reason, the pain is only manifesting while you lay down, but the pain process will be there the entire time. I'd go see a chiropractor. If you are in Pittsburgh or the surrounding area, come and see me. I am sure I can help you out. If you can't find a good chiropractor, then try some stretching, ice, and low-intensity exercising. You may have arthritis, or just a pulled muscle. I can't say with the information that you gave me. But you won't go wrong if you stretch, use ice, and try some mild exercising.

Thanks,

Chiropractors are different than physical therapists. Our education is very similar to medical school education. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat a specific musculo-skeletal problem. Physical therapists are very good at strengthening up, and stabilizing, irritated and malfunctioning joints and muscles. I feel that chiropractors are better at getting you out of pain, and then physical therapists are better at strengthening up an injured joint or muscle. But physical therapy will be much more effective, if it is after a series of chiropractic treatments. A good chiropractor will be able to get a joint calmed down, aligned, and will reduce muscle spasm and inflammation. After that, you will be primed to go to a physical therapist and get that area strengthened up. I hope that helps you.

Gout is hard to control with exercise. Usually, it is better controlled by watching what you eat. There are certain foods that will aggravate gout. Dehydration, coffee consumption, and alcohol consumption are all known irritants for gout. That being said, if your legs and hips are strong and loose, then they will be better able to handle the effects of gout when it does flair up. I'd try to do some light squats, dead lifts, core exercises such as crunches, plank and half plank, and something for your low back such as the birddog or superman. You can look these exercises up online, or you can go to my website, www.cohentriggerpoint.com, and there will be an entire exercise and nutrition program that would be great for managing gout. Check it out, the program will be up soon.

By this point, your scoliosis is stable, meaning that the curvature will not progress or get worse over time. However, your symptoms can get worse over time. Having scoliosis means that your back and hips and possibly your neck will flair up easier than it would without the curvature. I find that my patients with scoliosis need to do some type of exercising like pilates or yoga or tai chi. These systems are easy on your body and will balance your body and align it, making you less susceptible to injury. If you are around the Pittsburgh area, come in and see me, I can help decrease the symptoms that you get from your scoliosis. I manage many patients with scoliosis.
I would try exercise, physical therapy, chiropractic care, trigger point therapy, etc., before I would try surgery. If you have any questions, or want to schedule, my office number is 412.681.4747

Chances are this is from the muscles in your hips going being spasmed and inflamed. The gluteal muscles in your hips get vastly overused. We use them every time we sit down, stand up, walk, go to the bathroom, breath, etc. They are contracting every second we are sitting, to prevent us from flopping over. They are major stabilizers for the core and legs, so they get tighter and tighter until they tear on a microscopic level, and go into a pattern of spasm and inflammation. This is what a sprain or strain or muscle pull is.

The best way to take care of this issue is by seeing a chiropractor who specializes in treating trigger points, and stretching and doing yoga. Ice will help out as well, by decreasing the inflammation.

I hope that this answer helps you.
