Dear Patient:

Anal fissures and anal fistula are 2 different things. For what you mentioned, it sounds like a fistula. Bactrim (Sul/TMP) are not made to cover colonic flora, therefore, I doubt will help you; in fact, unless there is an abscess, rarely one can use Ab for this reason. If a fistula is the problem, I would suggest "seton" placement, painful but effective. This way, I have treated many patients with long-term good results.

Good luck,

Dear Patient:

Gallstones can be dissolved, but just in a few cases; most of the time, when the symptoms starts, the only way to fix it is surgery. The medication used to do it is mainly ineffective; this reflects the amount of surgery done for GB issues in the USA. The smaller the stones are, the greater the symptoms will be.

Good luck,

Dear Patient:

There are missing pieces of information: size of hernia, location, mesh or no mesh, age of the patient, and obviously when doing sex (there is a variety of intensity). In general terms, sexual activity should not be contra indicated after surgery, as long as you practice it safely, after surgery. For at least a few weeks, the patient should avoid lifting too much weight, therefore, this should not be part of the activity during intimacy.

Good luck,

ET
