Like Corinne Crabtree says, "Sometimes I eat like an a**hole". Do you?
I know what to eat to feel good, stay healthy, and have energy but I don't always do that. Sometimes, I will eat chips...in the basement...with crumbs flying...until I feel like I'm going to burst (knowing I'm going to feel like sh*t and have to pull out the damn vacuum so there is no evidence of my depravity left for others to find).
I often have patients come to me wanting to lose weight, regain energy, resolve brain fog, or heal gut issues. One of the first things I have them do is tell me what they eat. Here ensues a host of embarrassment, shame, and guilt as they confess to their own vices, indulgences, and weaknesses. But it is really not that at all. What it is, is a coping method. I often have to tell them, I've been there, done that, and have the pictures to prove it.
There is no judgment in my clinic. There is only a path towards empowerment. I used to eat like an a**hole and sometimes, and still do. So, I get you. I am you and I'm here when you're ready.
