To Whom it May Concern- In answer to your question. I broke my nose. Does septoplasty fix a broken nose? Every broken nose is different. Think of the nose as a upside down cone shape. The septum is the middle to hold it up. Usually, with a broken nose, the septum (bone and cartilage) is crooked (off-center), causing obstruction and decreased airflow. A septoplasty does correct the septal deviation. However, usually the nasal bone positions need to be evaluated and treated accordingly. In summary, the broken Nose is fixed by repositioning the right and left nasal bone and the septum. Cosmetic reconstruction can also be performed at the same time as the functional repair.
