Most people agree that acupuncture does not hurt. Acupuncture needles are very fine and penetrate the area being treated with much ease. Often, patients will say they barely felt it, or they feel just a gentle tap when the needle is inserted. Once the needle is inserted into the acupuncture point, there may be a quick dull sensation. If you feel prolonged cramping
or any kind of sharp, shooting pain, that is not typical and the needle should be removed and reinserted.

Excessive swearing also known as hyperhydrosis. In Chinese medicine we look at where the root of the condition exists through an in depth inquiry and diagnosis of what we call meridian disharmony. The best treatment for this condition is acupuncture and herbal medicine. Treatments would be best in a weekly basis and then gradually be spread further apart.

A lot of times, people come to acupuncture for an injury or health condition that is chronic or acute, and they want a safe, natural approach to healing. It is my experience that people feel so good after they start receiving acupuncture that even when nothing is "wrong," they schedule monthly wellness visits to continue their care.

Thank you for your inquiry about acupuncture for your back pain. Typically, what I have noticed in my practice is that for chronic back pain, one can expect to see results in reduction of pain and increased mobility between 1-6 treatments. For an acute condition, that number may reduce to between 1-3 treatments. An initial exam and diagnosis of your condition is very important to give an estimate of treatments and each person responds differently. Many people that have back pain get better quite quickly and then like to come in for monthly maintenance treatments.
