This sounds very unusual after a routine clean. Sometimes, there may have been a particularly large amount of calculus that was cleaned off and irritated your gums. Or perhaps it is completely unrelated to the cleaning, maybe associated with a problem with another tooth. It is very difficult to give you an exact reason without a proper assessment.
