We are told by the UN health advisory committee that we have less than two years to bring burgeoning climate temperatures under control before irreparable damage is done. Clear cutting for minerals, gold, and husbandry has just about destroyed Amazonian and Congo oxygen production sites and Putin threatens nuclear havoc. Looking at the last mess makes me wonder about the massive damage inflicted on Ukrainian cities and the disregard for life. I also wonder about the wealth in autos and housing being destroyed. Who owned it and how did it exist side by side with horse and human drawn wagons in agrarian settings? We see the surfacing of ASOV, an anti-semitic hate group with neo-nazi history, that's now being paid to fight Russian invaders by the Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, a Jew. Putin's verbalizations about Nazi/Jewish leadership in Ukraine make you wonder about the extent of the hatred.
We now hear that there was a plot by three Ukrainian Brigadier generals to betray the government and facilitate Russia's takeover. Two were arrested and one has fled to Russia. It may be that Putin anticipated easy entry and ceremonial welcome with his generals in dress uniform rather than a battle dress. Three were easily identified and killed by snipers. The picture that we have of solidary Ukraine is wrong. Does the 0.5 and 1.2 percent of the population hold too much visible wealth for many people? Here in the USA, we have Tampa and Tulsa, Indian Creek, etc. The survival of the species depends on cooperativeness which may not be capable. SARS-CoV-2 and a new Omicron variant may require re-masking and re-vaccination because of recalcitrance. The authoritarianism which is part of our heritage is likely to block salvation.
