Over the years she has been active in the academic side of dental medicine as well. She has been an adjunct clinical professor for several universities in Illinois as well as Edison State College Dental Hygiene School in Ft. Myers and the University of Florida School of Dental Medicine. She holds advanced post-graduate certifications in multiple fields of dentistry including Laser Dentistry, Facial Esthetics and Cosmetics, Neural Muscular Therapy, Dental Implants, a double certification in Sedation Dentistry, and Dental Forensics.

Your gum tissues under your partials need to be able to get "air". Leaving your partials in over night can lead to a yeast infection under the partial, inflammation due to debris and bacteria being trapped under them, and can also sometimes be a choking hazard. As a dentist, I can always immediately tell when my patient's are sleeping in their partials because their mouth will have an area of inflamed red gum tissue that is the perfect match to the shape of their partial denture.

A tooth that needs a crown usually has had a lot of trauma (fractured, large fillings, combinations of these), and this often leads to the nerve of the tooth eventually dying or starting to die. This would then necessitate a root canal therapy. So, in summary, not a requirement to have a root canal therapy prior to having a crown placed, but also not uncommon.

It could be a contact allergy. This could be from your detergent on your pillowcase, eye makeup, hand lotion that you may rub your eye with, hand sanitizer, and so many things. If it is itchy that could also be a sign of a contact allergy. Dental issues CAN cause the eye to swell. But you said that you have had your dental issues taken care of. However, since this has been happening for a while I would take this seriously. You need to get this seen by a professional because if it is related to an infection, it is life-threatening if it spreads into your bloodstream or to your brain. The daily diary that you do will be helpful to your physician as well so bring that with you. I urge you to at least go to an urgent care facility or maybe even a county health department at least. In my office, one of the most common causes of tooth sensitivity especially to cold is clenching and grinding. This action causes microcracks in the enamel of your teeth. When you eat or drink these cracks allow the temperature changes to be felt more easily by the dental nerve. Most often when the clenching and grinding is treated, it not only will greatly increase the health of your TM Joint and help protect your teeth from further more severe fractures, but tooth sensitivity will also greatly improve. I utilize neuromodulators in my practice injected in the masseters and temporalis muscles to effectively weaken these muscles and thus weaken the ability to clench and grind (even when sleeping).
