Luckily for you, gingivitis is one of the things in dentistry we can cure/reverse without long lasting damage to the bone around the teeth and the teeth themselves. The basic answer is frequent cleanings at the dentist (just for a little while to make sure youre not missing anything with home care). I would say do 3 or 4 month cleanings for a year or so. Ultimately, good home care is the key to getting rid of gingivitis. I would recommend a good electric tooth brush x2/day (oral B or sonicare are great - need to use it correctly though - watch YouTube or ask your dentist/hygienist), flossing 2x/day, a waterpik is not a bad idea, and a good mouth rinse 1 or 2 times per day. Thats a great place to start! But seeing a good hygienist to help show you where youre missing is also important. Hope that helps! Dr. Matt Nordlie

A partial can definitely cause discomfort. If its brand new, just have you dentist adjust it. If its older, it can also cause discomfort because you bone and tissue can change over time, which can cause it to not fit as well. If thats the case, the dentist can try to adjust it but it really may need a reline or to be redone. Thanks, Dr. Matt

Hi! Technically, it can be done, but not in every situation. The implant needs to be larger than the tooth were replacing in order for the implant to have stability and integrate with the bone properly. So it all depends on the tooth being replaced and how much bone there is. Hope that helps! Dr. Matt Nordlie

How many times can a zirconia crown be replaced?

Hi! That really depends on how much natural tooth structure is left under the crown. As long as theres enough tooth structure to hold a new crown in place, then another new crown can be done. Some tooth structure has to be removed in order for a crown to me made and fit over the tooth in the first place. Another reason tooth structure can be missing is due to decay getting under the crown or a fracture/crack, etc. In my experience, I can usually replace a crown 2-4 times (totally random though and dependent on the situation and if we find the decay quick enough). Each crown should hopefully last 10-20 years, but this also varies widely depending on the patient takes care of the crown and, of course, how well it was done. Ive seen them last 40-50 years on patients who take care of them very well. Hope that helps! Dr. Matt Nordlie

Is it normal to have teeth pain with braces?

Hi, Thats very normal. Expect to have some discomfort every time they adjust/tighten the wires if its super painful or you notice swelling, you need to see a dentist for a check READ MORE
Hi, Thats very normal. Expect to have some discomfort every time they adjust/tighten the wires if its super painful or you notice swelling, you need to see a dentist for a check or call the orthodontist youre working with. Most of the patients I see in braces/clear aligners are sore. You are moving teeth through bone essentially, which causes some inflammation around the roots (some pain/discomfort). Hope that helps, Dr. Matt Nordlie
