They can be difficult depending on their position in the jaw and/or proximity to the main nerve in your lower jaw. Based on this, an oral surgeon is a good referral to make a patient more comfortable for difficult surgeries.

Depends on how extensive the implant surgery is (single implant vs. multiple). When I perform implant surgeries there is usually minimal discomfort, however, if multiple implants are being placed and tissue has to be manipulated there usually is more post operative discomfort. As with any surgery, I would advise taking it easy for a day or two afterwords to keep your blood pressure lower. Over the counter pain medication is a big help.
