Currently, Dr. Barrera serves in both clinical and administrative roles in hospital and private practice settings, seeing patients and leading teams, service lines, and departments. He is known to regularly participate in pro-bono work and community service. He is a sought-out industry leader in laboratory medicine, chiropractic medicine, concierge medicine, and healthcare administration, serving as a consultant for various private sectors, healthcare professionals, and institutions. He is also currently pursuing his master’s degree in healthcare leadership. He currently holds appointment as an adjunct faculty member at The City University of New York- The College of Staten Island. Dr. Barrera teaches students in the following courses/topics: laboratory medicine, phlebotomy, anatomy and physiology, biology, and medical terminology. In his time within the New York healthcare arena, he has been featured on NY1 News, Staten Island Advance, New York Weekly, CBS-new, Fox-news, USA-Today, Digital Journal, NBC-news, Thrive Global, and Staten Island live. In his free time, Dr. Barrera enjoys fitness training, boxing, traveling, and research.
