Hello and thanks for reaching out! Acupuncture is proven to help alleviate chronic pain. That's one of the things we do best. Many insurance companies as well as the World Health Organization acknowledge the amazing effect acupuncture can have on decreasing chronic pain. It's not an instant cure. Sure, you'll feel better when you leave the clinic, but it will probably come back if you don't return for treatment over a period of time. Typically patients should come in for treatment according to their treatment plan which is usually 1-2x a week for several weeks. The effects are cumulative and the pain relief gets better and lasts longer with consistent treatments over a period of time. It all depends on why you have the pain, how long you have been in pain and what is the cause of your pain. All of these things will be addressed during your initial consultation and reviewed between you and your practitioner. Don't shy away from it. There is no reason that you should always be in pain. You'll thank yourself later and wonder why you waited so long. Feel free to read my blogs on pain management on my website or reach out to me or any other provider in your area. Ask questions and inform yourself. Hope that helps!

Hello there! Great question. Acupuncture is typically used after wisdom tooth removal for postoperative pain. It's also good for decreasing swelling as well as bleeding after removal. Acupuncture is often used after dental work to mitigate the trauma to the area due removals, surgery or routine dental work. It can help rebalance the body through meridian work locally, distally (arms, legs, or ears). Acupuncture also assists with the healing process by creating microtraumas in the surrounding area which will set the immune system into action. It also promotes circulation, decreases inflammation and alleviates pain. This is achieved through working LI and ST meridians with the addition to other points to break through qi stagnation and rebalance the body. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions! Happy New Year!

Acupuncturists can use various modalities to help alleviate tension of the muscles and tendons. Many times, it would involve not just acupuncture needling, but also incorporating guasha, shonishin, cupping, and/or tuina. It is also important to find the underlying cause of your tight tendons. This can only be done with a medical history and consultation. It may also require several sessions to get full relief as each treatment is cumulative. It's hard to promise instant relief as each patient is unique, but acupuncture can help with consistency.

The short answer is yes, acupuncture effectively treats most types of pain. It is important however that you follow up with an orthopedic or your primary care physician to rule out tears.
Although acupuncture is good for decreasing shoulder pain, it cannot stitch back together full thickness tears. For that, it is best to work with a physical therapist and acupuncturist so you can help decrease pain and inflammation, while strengthening the surrounding muscles.

Hello!
That's a good question. Typically, acupuncture for fertility works best with treatment twice a week for 8-12 weeks. This way, we can work through several menstrual cycles, focusing on the uterus and ovaries as well as have you follow through with dietary recommendations.
That being said, many people find themselves in situations where they cannot go in for treatment that frequently. I recommend you discuss this with your acupuncturist and come up with a plan in which you can continue to do homework, such as doing acupressure with magnets and seeds in between treatments.
As always, feel free to contact me directly if you have more questions.

Hi there!
I wish I could answer this precisely but you say that you got the needles yesterday but have been dizzy for a few weeks. It's hard to say what exactly happened since I wasn't there.
What I can offer is what I know from personal experience. One of the side effects besides a drop of blood or bruising is lightheadedness or dizziness. This is often due to the flood of endorphins, your body's natural pain relievers, which can often leave patients with a floating feeling or dizziness. It typically resolves within 10 minutes to a half hour depending on the individual.
What I always recommend is call your provider and tell them what is going on. Also contact your physician and have him check you to make sure that there isn't anything else going on.
I hope that answered your question. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to talk more.
