Or you could get IV iron infusions which are typically given in 3-5 doses over the course of a couple weeks. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause anemia and is treated either with daily oral supplement or monthly shots. There is also anemia of chronic disease which requires treatment of the underlying disease.
