8. Annette Funicello
Annette Funicello was an American actress and singer. She was diagnosed with MS in 1987 and went public with the news in 1992. A year later, she founded the Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Diseases, to help find a cure. In 1995, a movie titled “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes: The Annette Funicello Story” was released. It depicted how Funicello lived and dealt with MS.
“I want to touch their hearts so they will go out there and help us raise some money. I’m going to continue to fulfill her wish that to help find a cause and a cure” said Glen Holt, Funicello’s husband, stating that it is what his late wife would have wanted.
