A Practical Guide to Coping with Lupus
Maintaining a healthy diet
Exercise routines should always be complemented by a healthy diet that provides enough nutrients while keeping bad fats to the lowest level possible. The diet followed by someone with lupus must include plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole grains along with moderate amounts of meat and other proteins.
It is quite recommendable to include foods with a higher intake of omega-3 fatty acids since they help improve sleep quality and reduce the possibility of having depression. This kind of nutrient is quite common among fish, seeds, nuts and other specific types of food.
Another ingredient that promotes a healthy immune system is Vitamin D, which is obtained from the sun. For that reason, it is a good idea to sun bathe, but only once in a while to recieve enough of this nutrient (as too much sun can very well trigger a flare of the disease).
