Celebrities Who Have Had Lymphoma
Laurence Tureaud (Mr. T)
The man known by the world as Mr. T has been in a lot of fights in his lifetime. Born Laurence Tureaud, Mr. T lived a career or putting his life at risk for clients as a high-profile bodyguard. He entered the public eye as a wrestler, and then more widely as an actor, starring in The A-Team and his own reality show. He had a role in Rocky III along with his wrestling partner, Hulk Hogan, and lived a life of tough-guy contests and overcoming danger.
Yet the greatest threat to his life (though he might disagree) came in 1995 when he was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma. He sought treatment and underwent several rounds of chemotherapy over several years, eventually fighting the cancer into remission, where it remains today. After a period of time goes by and cancer has not returned, a person is deemed cancer free, and Mr. T is alive, well, and cancer free at the current age of 65. He supports St. Jude’s research hospital and other cancer foundations, hoping to inspire and encourage others who battle cancer.
