Complying With CPAP Treatment Prevents Hospital Readmission for Sleep Apnea Patients

Common complaints about the CPAP and solutions

There are various concerns with the use of CPAP. It is important to address each one of them and tackle the possible solutions to them.

It is not comfortable to wear

The most common concern about the use of CPAP is the discomfort it brings by having to wear a mask over your face.

Remember, it should not be done all at once. It may be frustrating and difficult to use at the beginning. But, getting used to CPAP takes time and patience. However, once the patient gets used to their CPAP, it becomes something natural, and it can be used without thinking about it.

First, try wearing the mask for a couple of minutes without connecting it to the machine. Do other things while it's worn. Doing this will set your mind to other things and would not likely focus on the machine.

Some patients also use rewards to motivate themselves to continuously wear the CPAP. The patient can start by wearing it a few minutes and then gradually increase the time.
