Coping Strategies for Ovarian Cancer Patients and Families
Pay attention to your needs
A cancer diagnosis may not mean living a normal life, but you can try to live as normal a life as possible. And this starts by paying attention to your needs.
Eat nutritious foods to boost your energy when you can. Do not work if you do not have to or negotiate flexible time at the office. While undergoing chemotherapy, avoid social situations that may put you at risk of getting an infection. Do as much as you can, but do not overexert yourself.
In addition, ask your family and friends for help by being specific about your wants and needs. Those who mean well want to help; however, they often do not know what to do unless you tell them.
