Fibromyalgia: Getting Past the Fatigue
The impact of exercise
A variety of studies have placed a particular interest on fibromyalgia, as the disease can often be a difficult condition to identify within the healthcare facility walls. One study looked at the most effective ways in which patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia could exercise. Generally speaking, these patients require lower-impact physical activities in order to decrease the amount of pain felt while exercising.
The researchers’ primary goal for this given study, conducted by individuals from the Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP), was to compare the effectiveness of both swimming and walking with fibromyalgia patients. The desire to do so was driven by the fact that swimming as a means of effective exercise been explored for fibromyalgia patients.
