BCG is a 100-year old vaccine that is actually used to prevent tuberculosis (TB) disease in other countries. It contains bacillus Calmette-Guerin, which is a strain of Mycobacterium bovis (attenuated) with non-specific immune adjuvant and immunotherapeutic activities.
