Four years later, 16-year-old Esther was still just skin and bones. She looked and felt sick, but all the doctors she went to for help told that her she had gastritis, or was too stressed. Some even thought she had an eating disorder. Esther was still very underdeveloped for her age, weighing a mere 90 pounds.

Esther and her family start to seek outside opinions about her health

Esther is from Honduras, and soon she and her family started going far and wide to seek out second opinions. She began visiting new American doctors both in Houston and Miami for treatment. She had to miss out on a lot of things most teenage girls got to do in high school for all her hospital stays and doctor’s appointments
