The Relationship Between Rheumatoid Arthritis, Probiotics, and the Gut
Daily probiotic intake can reduce inflammation
A study published by The National Center for Biotechnical Information indicated that a daily dose of probiotics resulted in lowered activity and reduced inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis. Evidence suggests that the effects of probiotics can be seen in realms of the body nowhere near the administration location.
A few benefits of probiotics are:
- Strengthening of the mucosal barrier of the gut, making it more resilient to toxins, allergens and pathogens
- Strengthens epithelial tight junctions (formation of cells found in organs that contain and transport body water and solutes)
- Modulate immunity by training the immune system to recognize them as ‘good guys’ and not foes
- Reduce chronic low levels of inflammation in the absence of a serious system threat
